I’m Andy. I live in Hackney, London, where I aim to design and build beautiful interfaces.
For as long as I remember I've found joy in building things—in another life I'm sure I would have been an architect. I love obsessing over finer details and seeing how complex things can be broken down into small building blocks. It probably makes sense then how I eventually became a software engineer.
Before tech, I wore several different hats, most notably as a neonatal nurse in London hospitals. How did I end up in nursing? The truth is I was a bit all over the place as a teenager and loved the idea of helping people—which I still do, just through tech now. Would I do things differently given another chance? Absolutely not. I loved the hustle and bustle of it all, everyone coming together to give the best care for their patients. Unforgettable.
The transition from nursing to tech might seem dramatic, but both share something: that sense of magic when everything clicks. I felt it as a kid watching my uncle code, I feel it now, and I love helping others discover it too.
If you don't find me training for some physical event (I raise money for charities each year by putting my body through some form of pain), you can find me working on side projects, learning new technologies in the ever-changing world of tech, and trying to recreate that magic feeling myself!
